Abstract:

In this paper, compensation mechanism—a synchronic dynamic rule in language is postulated and theorized. The rule raises the acceptability of clauses by effecting the positive side of some variations with exceptional expression and offsetting their negative side. This mechanism is determined by the instrumentality and systematicality of language so that its basic principle should be applicable to all exceptional expressions for particular positive effects and thus universal synchronically.
